Giving hope to the homeless. Turn Around is a community-based initiative, focused on reaching out and connecting with street people.
As a means of doing thius, volunteers from the non-profit organisation go into the streets every Tuesday from 10:00 to 12:00, engaging with the homeless, teaching the necessary life skills and getting them involved in keeping their surroundings and areas they sleep in neat and tidy
'...where they find themselves now, does not have to be their end destination'
Susie Pedro, a social worker, says she identified the need to intervene. She started to identify who the homeless people in the community were.
'Most people that end up on the streets don't know that there are organisations that can help them,' she said.
'We reach out so that they know that where they find themselves now, does not have to be their end destination.'
This community initiative to reach out, uplift the moraal and instill hope amongst the homeless is a GB Outreach and Turn Around community based initiative.
